Retro Gaming Reviews: Mega Man V (Game Boy)

Mega Man V is a game for the Game Boy.  It is the last of the Mega Man game boy games from the classic series. It is a game that follows the tradition of being a little bit different from each game in the series.

One would expect the robots to have half from Mega Man 5 and then Mega Man 6 on the NES.  For anyone expecting it, that is not the case at all.   Instead, there are completely different robots.  Furthermore, the robots in the game use names from planets in the solar system.  The main robots to fight are the Stardroids.

For the stage selection, it is different.  To illustrate this point, the stage selection looks more like robots.  As previously mentioned, there are named after planets. Complete the four that are available.

An introduction to a weapon that was only used in this game. Mega Man V introduced the Mega Arm.  It is a charged shot using the arm.  It is the best weapon in the game. Using this weapon will make the game a bit easier to go through.

Continuing a tradition of Mega Man games, if you defeat the boss, you get their power. Much as the style has been since the beginning, it is in a rock-paper-scissor format. It can require strategy to figure out the weakness.  Using the Mega Arm is not a bad strategy if you do not know the weakness of the boss.

In most Mega Man games, the final villain is Dr. Wily.  Mega Man V, however, has a different final boss.  Due to the Stardroids being present, the final villain is not Dr. Wily. Sunstar is the main villain for a change. In short, consider him the one pulling the strings behind what has been happening. It is a twist to have a different main villain to fight.

Mega Man V is a good game to play. Finding the game is a good idea. To find the game, all you must do is look online as it is likely to be available on Amazon or eBay. Of course, you will need to use it. There is the original Game Boy that it can be played on but there are other options.

The Super Game Boy would be an option presuming you have a Super Nintendo as well. Put the game on there and begin playing.  There is the Game Boy Advance, which can play Game Boy games. For the GameCube, there is the Game Boy Player as a possibility.  Mega Man V has options to play it.
