Retro Gaming Reviews: Fast Food (Atari 2600)

Fast Food is a game for the Atari 2600. It is like many of the Atari 2600 games that have come out during that time. There is no story to this game at all and it has the premise of going for the high score. Considering that there were limitations of the Atari 2600, it is understandable that a game like Fast Food is very simple. Its style is very similar to arcade games as it was always about the high score.

Premise

Playing as a mouth is what you will be doing. Your prime objective will be to go about eating food. There is, however, one piece of food that should be avoided at all costs. It is a purple pickle. If you eat six of those, the game will be over, and you will have to start all over again.

Gameplay

Just use the Atari 2600 controller and move the mouth to the food. Watch food like burgers, hot dogs, green pickles, and so forth. A purple pickle can be removed once you have obtained a good enough score as it is similar to gaining an extra life. This game will continue until the game is over. After completing a level, the food will start coming by at a faster rate so really pay close attention.

Overall

It is a decent game for the time being. While it’s not going to replace arcades, it’s just one that is like many of the games of that time. Think of examples like Defender as that doesn’t really have a story at all but enjoyable to play, nevertheless. Finding this game would be difficult but it may be possible online. Of course, there are flea markets, but it will require a working Atari 2600. If that is not feasible, then the next course might be Retron77.
