Mega Man 3 is a game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is the direct sequel to Mega Man 2 on the NES. Of the games, this is arguably one of the longest ones and has two sections of stage selection. In short, it is different than previous games.
Premise
Following the events of Mega Man 2, Wily “surrendered” and decided to reform teaming with his former colleague Light. Together, they worked on Gamma. There are eight robots that had been causing terror and it’s up to Mega Man to stop them. These are Dr. Wily’s robots, but he is claiming that he is innocent. It’s up to Mega Man to get to the bottom of what is going on. Dr. Wily deceived everyone and was plotting to take over the world while continuing in the game.`
Gameplay
The beginning of the game is using the staple of selecting the robot master and defeating them to take power. Select a stage and go through it from beginning to end. In-between, there are stages that will have a mini-boss battle with a mysterious robot named Break Man.
It is also the introduction of Rush. He became a staple after this game. There are three different components. One is the Rush Coil, which is the signature move to jump to higher places. There is also the Rush Jet, which can be fully controlled to get through pits. It is also a method to use to get through extremely challenging areas. For the water sections, there is the Rush Marine, which can be used to also attack.
A final introduction to new moves would be sliding. This comes in handy as there are sections on stages that have areas where performing the slide will be necessary.
After completing the robot masters, you will fight Break Man, which will allow you to select four stages. Once the doc robots are beaten, then it goes to the traditional sense of going through all the Dr. Wily levels.
Overall
Mega Man 3 is an enjoyable game and worthy to continue to be part of the Mega Man franchise. Today, the game can be played through the Mega Man Legacy Collection. To buy that game, you can do so on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and the Nintendo 3DS. In short, there are options to play it. For the authentic version, it will require an NES and buying the Mega Man 3 cartridge. Since stores are not likely to sell it in-person, your best course of action is likely to be online through sites like eBay or Amazon. If you are a Mega Man fan, it would be worth playing.
