Retro Gaming Reviews: Mega Man III (Game Boy)

Mega Man III is a game for the Game Boy. It is not to be confused with the NES game Mega Man 3.  Coming in at the third game of the Mega Man games for the Game Boy, it follows the tradition of the earlier games.

Half the robot masters are from Mega Man 3 and the other half are from Mega Man 4.  The first four selectable levels have robots from Mega Man 3. Due to the limitations of the Game Boy, there can only be four that are present. Still, it does not change the game at all. Completing the mid-stage will leave you with fighting the robots from Mega Man 4.

Completing those ones will involve the Dr. Wily levels. Much like Mega Man and Mega Man II, there is another robot that must be beaten. Punk is the robot in this game. He can be a bit of a challenge considering his attack is like a blade for sawing. After defeating Punk, continue through the rest of the game until finally reaching Dr. Wily. Before doing so, try to make sure to have all your weapons at full power in case they are needed.

It is the first of the Game Boy Mega Man games to have the charging. Mega Man III is following a route like Mega Man 4 on NES. The charge shot is present. Using the charge shot will be recommended to kill enemies.

Mega Man III is a solid game. From each of the Mega Man games on the Game Boy, there has been improvements. Continuing the tradition of being different, it is in line with the NES counterparts. Finding this game may be possible at a store, though unlikely. To find it, it is possible to look online at stores like Amazon or eBay. Playing this game will not be difficult. Aside from the traditional Game Boy, there is the Game Boy Advance. There are also add-ons like the Super Game Boy for the SNES or the Game Boy Player from the GameCube. Mega Man III is a solid game to play and would be worth checking out.
